HBT GmbH acquires 50% of the shares in the roadheader manufacturer from Werne, North Rhine-Westphalia.
To close strategic gaps in the current product portfolio and to expand the product range, HBT GmbH has acquired 50% of the shares in ADVANTEC Tunnel & Mining Solution GmbH – a division of the ADVANTEC Group. The company is based in Werne, NRW and designs and manufactures roadheaders for the global mining and tunnel construction industry. The share purchase will take effect on June 1, 2023.
Advantec develops and manufactures roadheaders for global mining and tunnel construction. The product portfolio comprises a total of 5 roadheader models, designed for a wide range of geological conditions. At the heart of the product family is the Advantec Tunnel Digging Roadheader with a weight of more than 100 tons and a compressive strength of more than 110 mpa. The machines can be customized according to project requirements and customer wishes.
HBT has known Advantec for some time, as the company acquired the patents for a road header from Caterpillar Global Mining in 2015. In addition, HBT Automation GmbH (formerly EXPROTEC) is already implementing several projects in collaboration with ADVANTEC. HBT Automation GmbH is supplying the complete power supply and control system for the roadheaders.
With this participation, HBT secures access to infrastructural tunnel construction – a market that is particularly interesting for the regions of India, the USA, Australia, and Turkey.
ADVANTEC Tunnel & Mining Solution GmbH has around 20 employees and will remain an independent company. The operational business will continue to be managed by the current managing directors Mr. Dennis Kästner and Mr. Thomas Pohl. It is planned that Advantec will move its production to HBT GmbH on the Westfalia Campus next year.
