Wear is the weak point in line pan design. Hauling millions of tonnes of coal away from the longwall is clearly going to result in high levels of wear.

The smart and totally new idea of splitting up the different functional areas in the HBT line pan PF6 allows the separation of wear parts and structural parts. Very hard, wear-resistant materials are used for wear parts, while the structural parts are made of high-strength steel.

With its patented trough concept and extremely rugged pan design, the PF6 is particularly suitable for applications in longwalls with extended face length and for panels with coal reserves of 10 million tonnes (11 million tons) and up.

The PF 6 is designed to allow deflections of ±6° vertically and 0.8 – 1.2° horizontally, thus allowing it to be easily aligned to suit local conditions. With installed drive power up to 3 x 1.200 kW (3 x 1,609 hp), a Cat high-performance face conveyor with PF6 line pans can handle over 5.000 tonnes (5,512 tons) perhour over a length of 500 meters. The high performance, simple maintenance and long service life mean a highly productive solution at minimal operating cost.
