The HBT PF5 line pan has a width of 1142 mm (44.96 in) or 1342 mm (52.83 in) and a deckplate thickness of 50 mm (1.96 in). One major advantage of the split-profile design is that from the four welds on each side of the pan only one is in the wear area, leaving the other three welds seeing virtually no wear. This increases the pan stability significantly. Typical bending capabilities are ± 6° vertical and ± 0.8 – 1.2° horizontal, which allows short snakes allow the AFC to follow undulations in the floor easily.

Furthermore, the split-profile design allows the dogbone pockets to be welded in from the outside without weakening the pan stability or decreasing the profile thickness at the pan ends.
